Burning Cubs Questions: Volume 2
In this popular, semi-anal segment, we examine questions in regards to the Cubs that are literally burning in people's brains. Have no fear...we're here to provide the bucket of water to douse that fire, although I fear your burns may prove to be fatal anyway.
This week's question comes from Eric in Gary, Ind.:
What is Mike Fontenot's favorite Chicago restaurant?
Mike would be delighted that you inquired, Eric. Unbeknownst to
Mr. Fontenot, one of our staffers followed him during the course of two consecutive homestands in June of last year. The first thing you should know is that Mike is very frugal with his salary (or 'allowance' as he likes to call it), and views leasing or purchasing a home to be a poor investment. He therefore takes advantage of the amenities offered in the clubhouse, and sleeps at the foot of his locker in a race car bed that he purchased with his very first signing bonus.
Obviously meals are not served around the clock inside Wrigley Field, so much of his nourishment does come from the local dining scene. He frequents Harry Caray's, as players receive a very generous discount on their meals from Dutchie. However, it has been confirmed that Mike's favorite restaurant is Rainforest Cafe. He visits Rainforest at least once per week when in town, often spontaneously joining in the blowing out of candles on an unsuspecting child's birthday cake.
